Dear Members and Friends:

As some of you already know, I will be entering a new venture starting June 15 th 2008. I have accepted the position of Executive Chef at the “El Dorado Royale” in Punta Brava, just south west of Cancun, in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. It will be a new departure for me and I will miss all of you. It has been a great pleasure to serve as the president of the CCFC for the past 2 ½ years, and to have been part of such a great, friendly organization.

Therefore, I called for a board meeting 2 weeks ago at “La Cachette” and submitted my resignation as President. The Board members will all step up to the plate regarding the day to day operations of the organization until the next elections.

At our last board meeting, we unanimously voted for to retain the services of Jane Summer Public Relations, as we all agreed that our Chefs/Restaurateurs and Purveyors need more exposure for all the great efforts you contribute to the Club.

While I will be leaving on June 10, I will be there for the Picnic des Chefs, our yearly celebration of delicious food and wine. We have an added station this year, with Neal Fraser and Joe Miller at the helm, representing the region of Burgundy. Please see page #4 for a complete menu.

We have some terrific news from the Pondicherry Village and the Kitchen the Club Culinaire sponsored in India. Aside some bureaucracy, the project is moving forward, they should soon begin construction.

Last but not least, the Club Culinaire is very proud to co-sponsor Share Our Strength's Taste of The Nation, to be held in Culver City on June 1 from 1-4 PM. We have offered complimentary tickets to our Picnic des Chefs sponsors and I am happy to see that a lot of you are taking advantage of the opportunity.

Ito be able to greet many of you at the Picnic des Chefs and don't hesitate to visit me in Playa del Carmen.

Culinary Yours,

Christian Monchatre

Chef: Neal Fraser

Grace represents neighborhood dining at its most elegant. The bistro-chic décor (an urban mix of earthy colors, Japanese design and '70s retro shapes) sets the pace for a warm experience.
Chef-partner Neal Fraser, an Iron Chef victor who formerly ran the kitchens at Boxer and Jimmy's, has collaborated with three other restaurant veterans on this project. Whether you love or dislike the look, the atmosphere becomes irrelevant once you've tasted Fraser's cuisine.
Great with seafood, from his intense lobster stock to delicate, seared scallops, via a moist skate, this chef's seafood dishes are sure bets. Other highlights include foie gras, an innovative sashimi appetizer, and a trio of soups followed by wild boar tenderloin in violet mustard sauce.
The wine list represents excellent value (for restaurant heavies, there's a separate cellar list of more rare finds).
For desserts, expect sophisticated renditions of old favorites, like gourmet donuts. Each element of the menu is commendable on its own, but when experienced together they embody the restaurant's well-chosen identity, simply Grace.
